I’m a 20-something old journalism graduate in London. However, I’m originally from a Russian-speaking family in Lithuania and don’t work in journalism.
I’ve settled down in PR and Digital Marketing, and that’s where I plan on staying. Despite my childish illusions everyone in the modern Western world will salute me and my desire to look different, none of this happened. To keep a good job and to be a socially acceptable adult, both of which are a must to me as I’m in the UK all on my own, certain sacrifices had to be made.
I do struggle a lot. Not losing eyesight due to the colourful contacts? Check. Trying to keep my hair somewhat healthy after dyeing it rainbow? Check. Regularly putting piercings back in once home and getting rid of them when going to work? Check. Feeling naked without longest of eyeliner wings? Check.
Yes, life is sad and I should probably consider growing up, but guess what. I refuse. If you can relate to that, stay tuned. After all, struggles are not so bad when you know you’re not lonely.
